Improve connection & restore hope.
Is Parenthood Supposed to be This Hard?
Struggling to Make It Through:
On a daily basis, you may feel hopeless and powerless against how you’re thinking and feeling. You always wanted children, but this is not what you expected. Social media and friends often describe parenthood as a beautiful experience—but your lived experience doesn’t match.
You worry constantly about whether you’re doing enough as a parent. Sadness and anxiety don’t seem to be going away. You may notice increased irritability or rage with your partner that feels completely out of character. You feel consumed by fears about your baby’s well-being, and you don’t recognize this version of yourself.
When the Perinatal Journey Felt Traumatic or Unexpected:
Your pregnancy may have been labeled high-risk, or you experienced complications such as an unplanned C-section, NICU stay, gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, or preeclampsia. You may feel robbed of the birth experience you hoped for.
Thoughts of “not being a good enough parent” may feel constant. Memories from your own childhood may resurface—what you did or didn’t receive—and you want your child to have more than you had. You may feel overwhelmed when thinking about your child’s health, returning to the hospital, or hearing others’ birth stories. You planned and prepared, yet nothing turned out the way you expected.
Perinatal Mood & Trauma Disorders:
One in five women experience perinatal mood or trauma-related disorders. These can occur during pregnancy, after birth, or in the early parenting years.
I commonly work with:
Perinatal anxiety
Perinatal depression
Perinatal PTSD
Some risk factors include a prior mental health diagnosis, pregnancy or birth complications, thyroid or hormonal conditions, and challenges with feeding or sleep.
Feeling Caught in the Cycle:
You may feel:
Mentally exhausted from trying to fix everything on your own
Overwhelmed by the responsibilities of parenthood
Disconnected from yourself, especially when anger or guilt surfaces
Stretched thin, powerless, or hopeless
how i can help
Perinatal therapy can help you build a stronger connection with yourself, your partner, and your child.
My goal is to support you in working through what feels stuck or overwhelming, while helping you develop a realistic and compassionate understanding of parenthood.
Therapy is a place where you can be your authentic self and heal at your own pace. Together, we may explore:
Understanding the perinatal experience and its impact
Finding your new normal as a parent
Improving communication with your partner
Identifying tools that support your unique symptoms
Could understand and communicate your reactions
imagine if you…
You may feel at a loss for words when explaining how you feel to your support system. In therapy, we can work on what to say and how to say it so you feel heard and understood.
Could reduce anxious thoughts or reliving birth experiences
Your thoughts and feelings feel out of your control. In your therapy sessions, we can practice proven strategies that help your brain work for you, instead of against you.
Had the emotional capacity to show up for yourself again
You’ve been running on empty for a while now. When you come home you’ve already used all the energy you had for the day. Therapy can help you improve energy levels to help you show up for your kids.
I want you to know:
Change is possible.
Let’s work together to create a compassionate relationship with yourself and others.
